NOTICE TO KANTRONICS CUSTOMERS
Owners of Kantronics KPC-3+ and KPC-9612+, version 9.0

Kantronics has recently become aware of an anomaly in version 9.0 of the KPC-3+ and KPC-9612+ units. The anomaly is only in APRS DIGI applications. In the APRS DIGI application, UIDUPE, UIDIGI, UIFLOOD, and UITRACE did not provide duplicate checking for APRS packets as originally designed.

Kantronics is offering the following solution:

• If either a KPC-3+ unit, or KPC-9612+ unit version 9.0 has been purchased within the past 60 days, a free update will be provided from the factory. Warranty registration, and proof of purchase receipt will be required.

• If either a KPC-3+ unit, or KPC-9612+ unit, version 9.0 has been purchased after May 1, 2003 (initial release of ver. 9.0) a free update will be provided from the factory. A minimal fee of $5.00 will be charged for shipping and handling. Warranty registration, and proof of version 9.0 ownership* will be required. This offer will be limited to a 3 month period, ending August 11, 2005.

• If either a KPC-3+ 9.0 EPROM upgrade, or a KPC-9612+ 9.0 EPROM upgrade has been purchased after May 1, 2003 (initial release of ver. 9.0) a free update will be provided from the factory. A minimal fee of $5.00 will be charged for shipping and handling. Warranty registration, and proof of version 9.0 ownership* will be required. This offer will be limited to a 3 month period, ending August 11, 2005.

• If either a KPC-3+ unit, version 7.0, 8.0, 8.2, or 8.3, or KPC-9612+ unit, version 8.0, 8.2, or 8.3 has been purchased, a $25 update may be purchased from the factory. A minimal fee of $5.00 will be charged for shipping and handling.

* Proof of ownership of Kantronics KPC-3+ version 9.0 and KPC-9612+ version 9.0 may be provided in the form of purchase receipt or photo copy of the printed circuit board showing EPROM label, along with copy of serial number on bottom of unit.

Updates for Kantronics discontinued models, including the KPC-3, KPC-9612, KAM, KAM+, and KAM ’98, units are not available.
