А много ли единовременных обладателей 2000 и К3? Если много, то на Ваш вопрос они молчат, если мало, то отвечать некому.

When i bought the K3 I was expecting a full size radio that could replace any of the Japanese high end radios both in size and performance. While I got excellent receiver performance, the K3 is lacking in many areas.
** The small size hampers day to day operation its a awkward radio for me to operate
** The Ergonomics is not all that great and it has too few knobs. Its this area that really
ruins the enjoyment of this radio. Why could it not have the layout of the Ft950, FT2000D etc?
** The transmitter IMD on PSK and HF is a problem i can hear it in my second receiver.
I get many reports of "splatter" on 17 meters which i never get on my other radios.
I cant see having the worlds best receiver while trashing the bands with a poor transmitter.
** SSB drive power and ALC is terrible and makes driving my amps problematic. My amps are remoted
down in the basement and I have to constantly tweak the amps and power controller. The K3 on SSB
is primitive.
** The 6 meter sensitivity is poor and it needs a preamp, another expensive add on. 6 meters
on the K3 was a after thought rather than designed with ultimate performance in mind. You can only conclude this because what DX'er can work with a receiver that has poor sensitivity?
** The radio is expensive when you have basically got to buy all the options, such as TXCO, filters,bandpass filters 6 meter preamp etc. While it could make it cheap for those wanting a good receiver, when you outfit the K3 for full performance its expensive.
** I find it annoying that the K3 has a lack of antenna sockets. Even the cheapest radios and even the K2 includes a second antenna socket. I dont see why i should have to buy an expensive antenna tuner just to get this socket especially
when most of us dont use antennas tuners in the rig.
** The K3 has a few birdies which is annoying. Its very unstable with birdies when you install the second receiver. When you have to play around with routing cables to reduce birdies and improve isolation you have a poor design electrically.
** The lack of proper bandstacking registers and the screwed up shortwave tuning is truly pathetic for a modern DSP radio.
** The audio quality sounds pure initially when using the internal speaker. However when you use professional monitor speakers or reference headphones the K3's audio has very rough edges. It sounds like the K3 has poor inband IMD on receive. This is very noticeable on strong signals on the peaks. Weak signals in the noise sound very muddy. On weak signals i prefer the sound and performance of my other analogue radios. The best way i can describe it is that
the K3 seems to lack "audio body" which makes it hard to pull signals from the noise. Its as if the DSp on receive only delivers half the signal of a old analogue radio. Weak signals seems also very peaky even after fooling with the
AGC. The K3 sounds very noise too, even my K2 sounds better. In conditions of static, i do believe the K2 handles static much better.
** Noise blankers are very poor and very selective. The IF blanker does nothing in my location. Even simple noise like motorbikes, lawnmowers and chainsaws dont seem to blank very well.
** There many other weaknesses in many features of the radio, like the notch filter, poor Smeter bargraph, high bail arm, and imperfect firmware. Many of these issues can be fixed in firmware however nobody knows if that will occur.
** The lack of ALC for amps is stupid, i dont feel I need to modify such an expensive radio to get something as basic as ALC.
** While the roofing filters do work and can cut down the QRM, the filters sound terrible. Even the 1.5khz filter on the K2 sound better than the 1.8khz roofing filter. I constantly have to adjust the filters center to get it to sound right. This makes copying weak signals very hard since you can lose a signal while you tweak a narrow filter to sound good. In this regard the narrow filters of the K2 are much better.
** RF feedback problems on the K3 need to be fixed. Every time i connect something to the K3 i am chasing RFI problems.
** Crap SWR and wattemeter is almost useless. I dont know why a radio with a powerful DSP processor cant read peak power properly!
** Poor tolerance to high VSWR, even a 2:1 SWR which most other radio can handle throws the whole K3's SSB power out I dont have a amplifer with WARC band on it so drive my old amps with high 2:1 VSWR and the K3 cant handle this.
** Very poor RF power control, you cant dial a fixed power to drive the amp and expect it to be the same as you QSY across the band.
The K3 is a very confusing radio in what its trying to be. On the one hand you get impressive receiver performance, and on the other hand you have so much missing in performance, specifications and features that most low end radios have. What is very apparent is that many things in the K3's design is not working very well because its a new design using many new technologies and techniques in DSP code the the designers dont understand very well yet. We the buyers are being the feedback guinea pigs. I have never had such a irritating radio with so many small things wrong that upset operation. I get so frustrated sometimes that i just plug in my portable backup radio a very old IC735 and think why cant the K3 even behave as well as this simple well performing radio.
I believe the designers made a mistake trying to make the K3 appeal to both portable and home station users. This fundamental flaw because of size, menus and lack of knobs has ruined a good radio. If you set out to design the worlds best radio everything about it must be the best otherwise you leave the radio open to criticism and this is just exactly the mistake Elecraft have made.
THE ONLY ATTRIBUTE THAT YOU CAN COMMEND THE K3 ON IS ITS EXCELLENT RECEIVER SPECIFICATIONS. Besides that it does not do much better than something like a basic radio like the Kenwood TS570s. You almost get the impression that the TS570S was
used as a model for the K3, its a shame some of the basic features of the TS570S was not copied in the K3! I do believe the K3 as a platform has the capability to become something a like a IC7700 or IC7800, its nearly there. The designers
just need to get away from the QRP/portable small box mentality and think big. The firmware certainly needs a lot of fine tuning especially on SSB. The radio is an ok CW radio.
I also believe some of the shortcomings in ergonomics of the K3 can be fixed. I would be very happy to scrap my current K3 box and front panel if Elecraft announced a upgrade kit to make the K3 layout better by fitting it into a bigger box.
We then could have several versions of the K3
K3 in bigger box with 1 receiver, 200 watts and inbuilt power supply and tuner K3 in bigger box with 2 receivers and panadapter, 200 watts and built in power supply.
The K3 has enough modularity to allow this to occur. It wont happen while people keep on drinking K3 koolaid laced with prozac who keep saying the K3 is the best thing since sliced bread, its not!
I would like to see a K4 from Elecraft, if the above does not happen.
* Bigger panel, with more knobs.
* Better specification transmitter with 200 watts of output power with proper RF fets 50 or 100 volts devices. A PA that is bullet proof that can operate into a 3:1 SWR without blowing up things.
* Built in power supply
* Built in panadapter
* Allow for the integration of a SDR receiver like the Perseus or Quiksilver VERB
* GPS corrected TCXO
* offered in 2 version single or dual receive.
* VRF or tuned preselectors like the Yaesu and Icom
* Better specifications on everything, things like TX IMD, RX IMD and better audio on AM(TX RX) I have a Perseus so I know how lousy the K3 is in this area!
*Better RF immunity...Hint attach a end fed longwire onto tuner ontop of the K3 as a learning exercize in EMC design!
* Better LCD display with a much better S-meter and make it easier to read the display.
* In short make the K3 into the best possible radio and call it a K4, When this occurs I will be happy to
pay $500 dollars deposit when the K4 is announced.
In short the K3 is a specialist radio that can do specific things for certain people like contesters who want the best HF receivers. In general its a lousy day to day radio that you cant enjoy using everyday. I have owned many radios and this is the first radio that has annoyed me so much, because so many basic bells and whistles that are required for daily operation just dont work very well. When i had a radio that was overloading i could move frequency, what can you do when you need more knobs or better features that dont exist? However you can certainly enjoy a lesser performing radio
like the FT2000D far more even though its receiver has poor specifications.
I am selling my K3...
